Looking for a new roof? Not sure who to trust to inspect your roof and tell you if you need repairs or just replace the whole thing? What do you look for when checking out roofing contractors? How do you know whom to trust?
The answer may not be as hard as you think, here are some things to consider:
1) Contact or check the Better Business Bureau, while they will not give you references, you can find out how a company handles consumer complaints and will give you an idea of a contractors character and reputation. (Incidentally, we have an A+ rating)
2) Referrals and Customer Reviews: These days. consumers can publicly state their experiences with roofing contractors on the internet on various review sites like, Angies List, Kudzu, and more. This is a valuable resource as it tells you how their customers feel. Check around, if there aren’t any reviews available, be cautious, as “fly-by-night” scams exist.
3) Check out their website. Does it look professional? Did they take the time to put together an informative and pleasant looking site or does it look like they just threw it together. Do they list their qualifications (and can these be verified?), Do they have customer testimonials and are they real? Do they have examples of their work on the site?
4) Check with manufacturers and business organizations such as GAF and NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association), if they have never heard of the company be wary.
Finally, use common sense! Don’t just hire the first guy who gives you a cheap price and certainly not if he just appeared at your doorstep! DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Don’t get ripped off, finding a qualified professional can be easy or difficult, don’t worry about price so much as quality of work and all will be well.
